Subject: Joe Macbeth/Men of Respect
*Joe Macbeth* is rather closer, and I thought a smarter version of the play--
though this may be mere nostalgia on my part: I saw it in graduate school
and found it very exciting. The big difference between it and *Men of
Respect* for me was that Joe Macbeth didn't exclude the rest of the
world, the way Men of Respect did--MACBETH *isn't* just about gangsters;
things happen to REAL people because of what Macbeth does.
And a footnote: as a version of Shakespearean dialogue, "Shit happens"
was inspired. (I think Banquo says it to Macbeth.)
