Subject: Death

All Shakespeareans will be sorry to learn of the death of Sam Schoenbaum. Many
of you know that he had been ill for some years, and he passed away Wednesday
morning. His influence in Shakespeare studies in the latter part of the 20th
century has been enormous, through his own important scholarship on
Shakespeare's life and through his outreach and generosity to many scholars
from around the world. He was one of the founding members of the International
Shakespeare Congress. When we know of plans for a memorial, we will post those
in this forum.
