Subject: Re; Globe season
Many thanks to the list members who took time to answer my inquiry about
the 1998 Globe season. Andy Gurr's Globe website
(www.reading.ac.uk/globe) provided the lead I needed. For those
interested, Ticketmaster in London (whose number is posted on that site)
can provide instantaneous confirmed bookings at the BO price (L20 for
best seats). The agent I spoke with was helpful, knowledgeable and
courteous. Unfortunately, Ticketmaster cannot mail tickets outside the
UK, but the are left at a pick-up desk at the theatre. I have no
financial interest in Ticketmaster.

Subject: Globe Summer Schedule
I'm sorry that the Globe website at Reading does not at present include
a page giving details of the summer season at Shakespeare's Globe. These
were going to be provided by the theatre's new website at
http://www.shakespeares-globe.org whose launch has been delayed for
practical reasons. I have been unable to update the Reading pages for
similar reasons but here is the information you require: The season will
begin on 19 May and run through 20 September.
Four plays will be presented, two by Shakespeare:
As You Like It and The Merchant of Venice (previews begin on 19 May)
Two by Shakespeare contemporaries:
A Mad World My Masters by Thomas Middleton (1605-6)
The Honest Whore by Thomas Dekker with Thomas Middleton (1604-5)
for both of which previews begin on 1 August
Performances will be at 2pm and 7.30 pm, and at 4pm on sundays.
At present I would advise faxing the box-office at 44 171 902 14 75 but
you can book online via Ticketmaster's website. Students get a discount
on all tickets except groundling (standing) tickets, which are 5 pounds
only. Other prices are 10, 15 and 20 pounds (9, 13 and 17 if
discounted).
All the best
Chantal
