I will be in Stratford in July with a class, and we will be seeing
TWELFTH NIGHT, TEMPEST, MEASURE, MERCHANT in the RST and TWO GENTS in
the Swan. While I don't have the complete schedule, I would imagine
these will be in repertory in August.

Try http://www.albemarle-london.com and look at Repertory selections.
You don't have to purchase and they have the entire summer season
listed...as well as all the other companies

John Cox asks what's playing in Stratford in August.

I have a brochure for their season. The following shows are listed for
August: 12th Night, Measure, Tempest, 2 Gents, Talk of the City (by
Stephen Poliakoff), Shadows (by Synge and Yeats), Bartholomew Fair,
Roberto Zucco (by Bernard-Marie Koltes), Bad Weather (by Robert Holman).

Cheers,

A related question: does anyone know if the Royal National Theatre
production of Othello, which just played in New York City at the
Brooklyn Academy of Music's Majestic Theatre, and which is said to be a
"touring production" is going to be playing any other venues in the
U.S.? This is the production directed by Sam Mendes, with Simon Russell
Beale as Iago and David Harewood as Othello.

I saw it last week, and it was absolutely shattering, by the way. At
least Beale was...I have an ideological opposition to the notion of
"definitive" performances, but I don't expect to see Iago played better,
ever. The rest of the production was anywhere from very good to superb
(Harewood was a little overparted, I thought), but Beale was very, very
special.

Anyone disagree? Let me know....
