Subject: Gods and Monsters
In the middle of the film _Gods and Monsters_, about the gay film
director James Whale (who made _Frankenstein_ and Bride of
Frankenstein_), Whale (played by Ian McKellen) cites Hamlet's line "O,
that this too, too solid flesh would melt" during a rainstorm at a party
thrown by the gay film director George Cukor. (There are no Shakespeare
references in _Apt Pupil_, also starring McKellen.) I recommend _Gods
and Monsters_. It's quite original.
