Subject: Teaching the Sonnets
Later this semester, my undergraduate Shakespeare class will spend a
week (yes, sadly, only a week) on the sonnets (to follow *Twelfth Night*
and *MND*, and to precede *Merchant of Venice* and *The Tempest*). As
this is my first time ever teaching Shakespeare, I thought I might issue
a general call for strategies in teaching the sonnets to classes
composed primarily of non-majors who struggle to finish a play in two
weeks.
Thanks in advance.
