Subject: Shakespeare Spin-offs
In regard to Brent Whitted's inquiry about Shakespeare spin-offs, there
is a play called "The Most Lamentable Tragedy and Death of Omelet and
Oatmealia," which I came across about 15 years ago. [Honest!] I can't
remember any longer the author or the context, but some learned member
of this net will doubtless be able to supply this information. Also,
*The Sandman" comics have Shakespeare himself appear as a character in a
series of time-travel episodes that are quite interesting. If Brent
wishes to know more about this comic, I can refer him to Annalisa
Castaldo, "A Text of Shreds and Patches: Shakespeare and Popular
Culture," *SRASP* 20 (1997): 59-71.

Studies of a substantial number of spin-offs can be found in the General
Shakespeareana/General/Shakespeare as Influence section of the annual
World Shakespeare Bibliography and +The World Shakespeare Bibliography
on CD-ROM+.
