Subject: Eschenburg Translation of MWW
Dear SHAKSPER,
I am interested in finding out more about Eschenburg's 18th century
translation of *Merry Wives of Windsor.* I am currently awaiting its
arrival via inter-library loan, but will be unable to read the German.
As such, I am keen to find out any of the following:
1) Is anyone aware of any articles or books that specifically discuss
Eschenburg's *Merry Wives*?
2) Are there any general non-German sources that discuss his
translations that you'd recommend?
Besides anything I can learn about Eschenburg's *Merry Wives* I am also
wondering in general what type of translations his are-style, omissions,
alterations, etc. Any thoughts you might want to share with me
privately or with the list are welcome.
Mahalo,
Lurana O'Malley
