CERES, the Cambridge English Renaissance Electronic Service, was started
in October 1996 in response to the developing importance of electronic
media in literary research. Aimed at those working in the area of
English Renaissance literature and its environs, its work has centered
on a regular email newsletter, CERES Harvest, detailing and reviewing
new developments in electronic resources for research in the
Renaissance, as well as relaying calls for papers and conference
programmes. But we have outgrown ourselves. Our new online service aims
to support and enhance the email service, and will expand over time to
offer unique facilities and content. It provides ready access to all
that we have done so far, and new features including a page of Links,
updated regularly, to what we feel are some of the best and most serious
online services. The Links page will provide another means of access to
our reviews of those services in Harvest. Each page has a toolbar at its
top enabling you to move to one of these four sections:

CERES Links: a gateway to the best online services, with comments and
links to our own reviews

CERES Harvest: the current issue of our regular newsletter reviewing new
developments in electronic resources for research

CERES Archive: digests of past series of Harvest, plus back issues for
the current and previous series, and our Starter Guide CERES Bulletin
Board: summarising relevant notices, conferences, and seminar programmes
in one convenient space. In the longer term we will continue to respond
to new developments, to offer a sure guide to them, and perhaps to shape
them ourselves. We hope that our members and visitors to this site will
offer their suggestions as to how best to do this.
