Subject: The Birth of Merlin

I am currently in a production of "The Birth of Merlin" or "The Childe
hath Found his Father." We are doing the third act as a one act
preview, and will perform the whole thing later this year. It is a
piece of Shakespeare Apocrypha. The play was published in 1622, and
ascribed to "William Shakespeare and William Rowley."

Does anybody know anything about this play? Does anyone actually lend
credence to the Shakespearean ascription? Are there any theories as to
where it comes from? And does anybody know of any other productions of
it? I have been unable to find another instance of it's being
performed, myself.

Thanks.
