Subject: Shrew Tape
Many years ago I videotaped three scenes from a very fine production of
The Taming of the Shrew, which was broadcast on ETV or some other cable
network. Unfortunately, I no long have documentation on the
production. I believe it was done in San Francisco. My student has
borrowed the tape and wants to cite it in a paper. In this production,
Kate wears a red gown in the final scene and Bianca is in white
(including a platinum blonde wig). The play ends with Petruchio and
Kate leaving from a doorway at the top of a set of stairs. After the
wedding gathering leaves through the lower doorway, the body of
Christopher Sly can be seen, left behind and sprawled on the floor---the
same actor who plays Petruchio also plays Sly. What I need is
information about the company, the director, the major players, and the
date. Actually, I'll take any information that you may have.
Thank you,
Nick Clary
