Subject: Stage Blood
As I recall, it does not deal with props directly, but people interested
in the bloody business may find useful
Leo Kirschbaum "Shakespeare's Stage blood and Its Critical Significance"
*PMLA* 64 (1949): 517-29.
Focus falls on JC and Cor., where blood has important moral
significance, and modern directors of those plays are criticized for
minimizing its physical presence on the stage.
Cheers (if that is the right valediction for a letter on blood),
John Velz
