Subject: Kent, Lear's Bastard Son?
One of my students suggested today that Kent has a homosexual desire for
Lear, a desire which motivates Kent's extreme devotion to Lear. And I,
rather tongue in cheek, suggested that Kent might be Lear's illegitimate
son, and thus in contrast to Edgar. I can't remember reading this
suggestion, but I'd bet that it has been already been made.
