For those members on the list who might be interested in the oral
practice of Shakespeare!
Catherine Fitzmaurice & Associates announce another workshop in
Fitzmaurice Voicework as a general introduction to this approach.
Catherine Fitzmaurice with Master & Associate teachers announce a
five-day workshop for all interested in the training, care, and use of
the professional voice:
January 7 - 11, 2000 at The University of Miami in Miami, Florida.
* Catherine Fitzmaurice's voice training techniques were developed from
her classical training in England with Barbara Bunch (Cicely Berry's
teacher), Cicely Berry, and J. Clifford Turner, uniquely combined with
her extensive experience with somatic training systems and energy work
(yoga, bioenergetics and Core Energetics, Alexander, Reiki, Feldenkrais,
shiatsu). The method utilizes aspects of all of the above in the service
of an actor's vocal freedom and focus. She has presented her work
numerous times at the Voice Foundation and other medical venues.
* Catherine-a Professor of Theatre at the University of Delaware-has
taught/coached at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London
University, the Juilliard School, New York University, New York
Shakespeare Festival, Lincoln Center, Hartford Stage, McCarter Theatre,
the Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, Goodman Theatre, Guthrie Theatre,
American Conservatory Theatre, U.C.L.A., U.S.C., La Jolla Playhouse,
Stratford (Canada) Shakespearean Festival, and many others. Her method
has also been taught at Harvard, Yale, Moscow Arts Theatre, UCI, and
other top actor training programs, and is also used in support of
clinical care by speech pathologists..
