Gabriel Egan has little to teach us about the material dimensions of
self-styled 'facsimiles'. As a senior citizen, with winter approaching,
I am fully alert to their potential as fuel. There have even been
occasions when the absorbent quality of the pages of Harold Bloom's
'Shakespeare: the Invention of The Human' has been borne in upon me.
