That's not a very nice neighborhood to stay in, and very pricey,
Dorina. What you want is to be near any underground stop on the
Picadilly line; we stayed in a lovely B&B in Knightsbridge recently
(less expensive than a hotel, and more hospitable) that fits that bill;
I can put you in touch with the agency that handled it, if you like.

Best,
Carol Barton

Dorina,

I have stayed in several places walking distance from the new British
Library (which is wonderful). It depends on your price range. Hotel
Russell and Blooms are nice. Across the street from Blooms, the Ruskin
and nearby Montague are inexpensive and adequate. Avoid the Cosmo,
Bedford, and Repton (my wife and I call it the Reptile) at all costs.
You will not stay in any of them for more than a night. You may have to
leave your bath-towel on the grimy floor. Water, or something, may drip
on you when you use the toilet. Ugh. The details for all can be easily
found in Frommer's or on the web.

All the above are in Bloomsbury and about a 15 minute walk from the BL.
They are also walking distance from a LOT of used bookstores and most
west end and south bank theatres. Access to various Underground lines
is quite close.

Have a wonderful time!

Mike Jensen

There's a new, large, reasonably presentable one a short block away on
the south side of Euston Rd.: Travel Inn Capital, 1 Duke's Road, WC1H
9PJ. Fax: 0171 554 3419. Singles for about 60 quid. Plenty of B&B's
in Cartwright Gardens, a block further south. If you're staying for a
week or more, I'd suggest the serviced apartments at Endsleigh Court, 24
Upper Woburn Place. They have a web site.

The hotel we stayed at in Bloomsbury was:

Bonnington Hotel
92 Southampton Row
London WC1B 4BH
Tel: 011-44 171 242 2828
Fax: 011-44 171 831 9170

Hope you can get a good rate as well.

Marian
