I adopted both the Gassner Medieval and Tudor Drama and the Gassner and
Green Elizabethan Drama as required texts in the appropriate course last
semester, precisely because they were affordable. Caveat Instructor,
however: the Gassner-Green book does not number the lines in any of the
plays, which makes actual classroom discussion of the texts, not to
mention students' citations of same in their papers, very difficult. Is
it perhaps time for someone out there to think about putting out a new,
equally affordable, anthology better suited to pedagogical use?

Ever optmistic--
