Subject: Five Tenets of Performance

I have yet another appeal to the group's collective wisdom. At the most
recent SAA, a colleague of mine heard another scholar refer to what he
called "the five tenets of performance," which were something like, what
the text demands, encourages, allows, discourages, and forbids. My
colleague reports that he referred to these "tenets" as if they were
someone else's concept and not his own. Knowing that I might be
interested in this issue because of a current project, she passed along
this scholar's e-mail address, but so far he has not responded to my
message inquiring about his source. Has anyone else ever heard of the
"five tenets" or know where I might locate them in print? I would
greatly appreciate any help.
