Ron Charles reviews Gertrude and Claudius in today's Christian Science
Monitor, emphasizing that it is a novel about domestic
relationships-Updike's forte being the dysfunctional family. Charles
seems fascinated by the ways in which Updike moves in and out of
Shakespearean language.
