David Evett suggests a method of copying photographs from books which is
almost certain to infringe any subsisting copyright. For a modest fee,
someone who needs a slide can obtain one (and a good deal of research as
well) from a reputable photographic stock house such as The Granger
Collection on Park Avenue South in New York. That agency specializes in
artistic and historical photographs and keeps an immense collection of
photographs in the public domain.
