CALL FOR PAPERS

Space has been reserved on the programme for number of previously
unpublished papers which will be considered by members of the ISA
Congress Committee. Those submitting a paper should be members of the
International Shakespeare Association, the Fundacion Shakespeare de
Espana or other national Shakespeare societies which are corporate
members of the ISA. Papers must be in English and should be designed for
a presentation not exceeding 30 minutes. Papers clearly exceeding these
limits cannot be considered. Since it is planned to publish the selected
proceedings of the Valencia Congress, the ISA reserves the right to a
first option on the printing of any of the papers accepted for the
programme.

Those submitting papers should send two non-returnable copies in
typescript to the Executive Secretary, International Shakespeare
Association, Shakespeare Centre, Henley St., Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37
6QW, UK, or can submit papers electronically via the Congress web site
http://www.uv.es/~fse. Papers will be acknowledged and senders will be
informed in due course whether or not they have been successful.

Papers should relate to some aspect of the overall theme of the
Congress, 'Shakespeare and the Mediterranean'. Amongst the factors
affecting the Committee's choice of papers will be thematic relevance
and the need to achieve a balanced programme.

THE DEADLINE FOR THE RECEIPT OF PAPERS IS 16 JULY 2000.

SEMINAR PROGRAMME AND REGISTRATION

Seminars on a wide range of topics related to the overall Congress theme
will form an important part of the programme. The seminars are expected
not to exceed 25 scholars who will work under the direction of the
leaders. Papers will be written, circulated and read in advance, so that
the seminars can be devoted to the discussion of the issue raised in the
research. Registration in a seminar will require active participation.

The seminar programme and a seminar registration form may be obtained
from the Executive Secretary, International Shakespeare Association,
Shakespeare Centre, Henley St., Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6QW, UK, or
delegates may register on-line via the Congress web site
