Subject: Anti-Shakespeareans
Isn't it interesting how some major writers have felt very
anti-Shakespeare for some reason? Is it merely that the Bard arouses
strong feelings always and even antipathy, when expressed, say, by
someone like Tolstoy or Shaw, must really be taken as a form of
unconscious or inverted flattery?
