Subject: The Filth and the Fury

Not sure if this was noted already...

New documentary out about the Sex Pistols called "The Filth and the
Fury"--in addition to the obvious Shakes. borrowing in the
title--intersperses clips from Olivier's Richard the Third
continuously--Richard's presented as analogous to John (Johnny Rotten)
Lydon in as much as both embody the punk rock ethos of the deformed and
outcast taking power however they can get it, flying in the face of
conventional aesthetics and politics, etc... It's an interesting
juxtaposition in the context of the larger cultural impact of punk in
the UK and the Pistols in particular--the film is well worth seeing.

Yours, anarchistically,
