I replied to Steve Sohmer off list; but Carol's post inspires me to
mention Jenny Wormald; I don't know where she professes at the moment
but when I did a bibliography of recent studies in James for ELR a few
years ago, the word was that she had a new biography of him planned; as
any new historicist knows, the most reliable biography of James is D H
Willson's highly unfavorable one which dates from 1956. It is important
to note that Wormald is actually Scottish and has published on James
within the past 20 years and that does tend to make a difference in
historical perspective. I admire Wedgewood and Kenyon but the march of
time......

Cheers
