Subject: RSC Macbeth to be Filmed

This is from the RSC web site. I thought it would be of interest. I
hope it will not provoke further bigoted comments by one listmember, but
it seems worth the risk to inform everyone else. Note the venue is the
same as the Nicole Williamson Hamlet of the early 1970s.

> The RSC's highly acclaimed production of Macbeth, directed by Gregory
> Doran and starring Sir Antony Sher and Harriet Walter, is to be filmed
> for broadcast later this year on Channel 4.

> The RSC's Macbeth was universally lauded as the finest production of
> Shakespeare's 'Scottish play' for over a quarter of a century when it
> opened at the Swan Theatre in 1999.

> Making his debut as a screen director with this project, Gregory
> Doran will be using all twenty actors from the original Macbeth cast,
> in a version that will employ a high-speed observational-documentary
> style. Shooting will take place over a two week period in the
> Roundhouse in London this Summer.

> Innovative arts production company Illuminations will produce the
> screen version of Macbeth, in association with Channel 4.
