Subject:        Call for Papers

The West Virginia Shakespeare and Renaissance Association (WEVSARA)
announces a Call for Papers for its annual meeting, 6-7 April 2001, at
the Embassy Suites in Charleston, West Virginia.  The conference theme
is "New Approaches to Elizabethan and Seventeenth-Century British
Literature."

Papers and suggestions for panels are welcome on any topic from the
period 1500-1660, from all disciplines and critical approaches.  Panels
already being formed include (but are not limited to):

    Shakespeare on and in Film
    The Renaissance Erotic
    Early Modern Orientalism
    Returning to Characterization

Please submit abstracts (250 word maximum for papers, or 500 words, with
names of possible participants, for panels) to:

Deadline for submissions is FEB. 15, 2001.  Papers presented at the
conference will be considered for publication in SRASP (Shakespeare and
Renaissance Association Selected Papers), a refereed journal in its 23rd
year of publication in paper, and in its 3rd year as a refereed
electronic journal.  The conference is sponsored jointly by the English
departments of West Virginia University, Marshall University, and a
consortium of other West Virginia colleges and universities.
