SHAKSPERians may be interested in the announcement of Stratford
Ontario's 2001 season

August 28, 2000 . . . . Stratford Festival Artistic Director Richard
Monette today announced the Festival's 2001 playbill, which will feature
14 productions running in repertory over six months. It will be the
Festival's biggest season in 10 years.

"A number of goals have converged in shaping this season's playbill,"
said Mr. Monette. "First, it fulfills a long-held ambition of mine to
mount a cycle of Shakespeare's history plays in the same season - Henry
IV, Parts 1 and 2, and Henry V - so that patrons can experience these
great dramas of power and personality either as individual stories or as
part of a grand and sweeping epic saga. The playbill also contains one
of Shakespeare's very greatest comedies, Twelfth Night, and one of his
most challenging and controversial 'problem' plays, The Merchant of
Venice.
