I am copying this out from today's issue of the New Orleans
Times-Picayune. The Fall 2001 performances may coincide with the 2001
MLA convention, which I believe is to be held in New Orleans.
"Taking a page from Orson Welles, Leni Sloan is putting together a
yearlong, multidisciplinary, multicity project that will result in a
choreo-drama "Voodoo Macbeth." "Welles set his WPA Theater piect in
Haiti in the late 18th century, at the time of the slave insurrection,"
said Sloan. "Ours will be set in New Orleans, Treme and Congo Square
specifically, at the end of the Civil War. . . . We hope to have a
45-minute reading ready in time for the Black Theater Festival in
November , but a full staging will not happen until the fall of
