Ambrose has the rights to sell the BBC series in the US only. Since the
BBC assumes that only schools and libraries will purchase the series,
the prices include public performance rights, whether you like it or no.
We've been fighting the Beeb on this for 2 1/5 years, Michael. Not only
are the BBC videos expensive, but we get hit double because the Beeb
does not have a wholesaler in Canada, which means that we can't even
sell the BBC series at full price. Very frustrating, indeed. And, as I
posted a few weeks ago, the head of video distribution at the BBC
Americas refuses to budge on the issue, because he feels the series just
isn't profitable. He also remarked that the only way to change the
situation was if he was replaced or suddenly died. Oh, how very
