Subject: Russian Gamlet
Just got off the phone from a half hour conversation with Corinth Films,
who, last I heard, were the prevailing rights holders for Gamlet.
Unfortunately, the situation in Russia has disintegrated over the past
few years and it has become almost impossible to even find people still
associated with the now defunct studio which created the film. In
addition, the political situation has fallen into chaos, and the
regulations governing the licensing of films keep changing.
Corinth is still working actively to bring these films over, including
the Russian Othello and Twelfth Night, in restored full color and proper
subtitles, but they still expect it will take some time. The version
