Subject: Pronouncing Names
Not exactly Shakespeare, though almost. It would be very helpful if
members could indicate how they pronounce the name of Marlowe's Dr.
Faustus. Do you use the German-style pronunciation of 'au' as in 'how'
or do you pronounce it in a more British way as in 'autumn'? I myself
instinctively use the German pronunciation but, being asked, am suddenly
unsure of what the international standard is and being in Korea I cannot
simply ask another scholar down the corridor for a quick confirmation.
