Subject: 12.0117 About OTHELLO
Comment: Fw: SHK 12.0117 About OTHELLO
EGAD! What an idea! Would she be an actress playing a man, or would she
be a "female" Othello? The latter sould raise a long line of questions!
Either way, it seems a very odd stretch. I have seen a female Shylock
(and Antonio, who became Antonia, was a woman also). At any rate, it was
a poor production with mostly weak actors (the actress playing Nerissa
gave the strongest performance!), so it would not be fair of me to judge
the concept. What made you ask?
Puzzlingly yours,
Paul E. Doniger
