I don't imagine such instances have any theoretical interest, but I'm
sure there have been female Othellos in school performances,
particularly at all-girl schools, with young actresses playing a
middle-aged black male as best they can. Not that "Othello" is often
picked by schools-- but surely some do it. I played Shylock in a (co-ed)
class production of "Merchant", and had "Othello" been scheduled I
certainly would have auditioned for the part.
