I also heard Frank Kermode's lecture and found it sane and inoffensive,
although some members of the audience seemed angered by it and asked
pointed questions.

No one wore name tags, so I could not identify them.

What I personally found interesting about the lecture was his admission
that he was an aging radical and as such felt qualified to comment on
some of the stances taken by modern radicals.

Since I am neither an aging nor a modern radical, perhaps my perspective
is unwanted, but again, I found the lecture enlightening.
