Perhaps there's more to the story than concern for school shootings.  I
have seen the film and spoken to some folks at Miramax.  Some feel that
the film is simply a weak movie that will get trashed and do poorly at
the box office.  I find it to be pretty soft except for Julia Stiles who
keeps turning in solid Shakespeare performances.

Perhaps the real issue is the racial one.  The film has attractive black
and white young people in love and in bed.  This has never been an easy
sell and the present political climate makes it even more problematic.
