Subject: O Release Moved Back to August

See http://www.upcomingmovies.com/o.html for the latest.

Lions Gate Films has picked up the film from Miramax and will put it
into general release this August.

Having now seen the film, I agree with David Linton that it is quite
bad, despite some decent acting. O drops the language of Othello
entirely, but does not revamp the plot much at all (as did 10 Things I
Hate About You with The Taming of the Shrew), and the result is a very
boring film.

I suspect, however, that Miramax dropped O to gain credibility with the
likes of Joe Lieberman and his "our teens watch too much violence in
mass media" sympathesizers, not because of an aesthetic judgment Miramax
made about the film's quality. Guess we'll never know, though.
