CALL FOR PAPERS:

Bibliography and Textual Studies session at the Midwest Modern
Association's

43rd Annual Convention, November 1-3, Sheraton Cleveland City Centre,
Cleveland, Ohio.

From the receipt of its first charter in 1557, the Stationers' Company
regulated, in cooperation with the Crown, public printed expression in
England, and eventually in Scotland, Ireland, and the North American
colonies. This absolute control only ended with the Copyright Act of
Anne in 1708-09.

Papers are invited on any aspect of the control of the press during this
period, and especially papers dealing with aspects of regulation
directly connected with the Company.

Please send abstracts of 150-200 words by May 23 to:
