A fascinating question, since it, itself, is an examination of our own
prejudices.

I'd add, though, that I'm not sure the two concerns are entirely
distinct.  Even assuming that there is an author to be discovered (a
question perhaps better not asked) I'm not sure if we would discover him
as a sort of content or intention.  In any case, we would wish to filter
our own prejudices by way of discerning it.
