Subject: The Tamer Tamed

SHAKSPERians might be interested to know that the small Arcola Theatre
in London will be performing "Shrew'd" - a combination of Shakespeare's
"The Taming of the Shrew" and Fletcher's "The Tamer Tamed". The
production runs from Tuesday 8th May to Saturday 2nd June.

The producers of the production claim that "The Tamer Tamed" "... hasn't
been done since Restoration times ... to the best of our knowledge". I
know that this is not actually true, having heard of prior and also
unabridged productions - including one in Baltimore in 1979 - but I
would be interested to hear what other SHAKSPERians know of any other
productions in modern times. Where has this play been performed and by
whom? I am sure that there have been other productions that I haven't
heard about.

Many thanks to anybody who can offer more information.

Thomas Larque.
