Subject: Marcus Dahl and Henry VI Part One
Readers may (or may not!) be interested in the full reference to the
following paper, which was mentioned in passing during the "Feathers"
controversy:
Marcus Dahl, "Did Shakespeare write Henry VI Part One? or : Gary Taylor
and rhetoric of attribution: a prelude to statistical analysis and the
justification of an 'initial pattern' ", Postgraduate English : A
Journal and Forum for Postgraduates in English (UK), No. 1 (March 2000)
http://www.dur.ac.uk/~dng0zz5/dahl.htm
I am blissfully unaware of the correct format for citing e-journals and
articles, but the above should suffice! The paper is accompanied by a
First Response ("From one of our referees") which is best described as
fatuous - I think Marcus and I should be able to agree on that at least!
It is perhaps unfortunate that Marcus wrote his paper before the
publication of Ronald Knowles' Arden 3 edition of 2H6 (1999), Edward
Burns' Arden 3 edition of 1H6 (2000), and John Jowett's Oxford edition
of R3 (2000). Also, Marcus is a bit hard on the hapless Gary Taylor...
