Subject: A Play Resold to Chamberlain's?
Dear SHAKSPEReans:
My (steadily failing) memory tells me that there is an allusion in some
play to Dekker's reselling of Satiro-mastix to the Chamberlain's Men
after it was first played by the Paul's Boys.
I can now find no reference to this allusion in Chambers, Small, Fleay,
Penniman, Bowers, Gifford or elsewhere, so it appears my memory is
wrong.
Can anyone tell me what play/playwright/company/allusion I'm thinking
of?
(Also an inkling that the company it was *first* sold to was on tour
when it was resold.)
Much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
