>that Mariannejane sat on the edge of the stage sobbing; and that "Miss X
>is a perfectly darling teacher"

. . . and if that weren't enough, when he needs specimens of ludicrous
response, Sam Small's fingers just somehow produce female ones. And all
this under the rubric "are they too stupid"! I hadn't realized he
thought this phrase meant women. Nice to have that clear.

You're right. Treat our children like adults, give them unadulterated
exposure to the realities of life, and they will become as mature as the
peace loving democrats hiding out in Tora Bora.

Shakespeare wrote on themes which bear a strong resemblance to some of
the subjects of Hip Hop lyrics. His language was no more removed from
standard modern English than the Ebonics cum jive used in rap lyrics.
If I can understand Snoop Dogg, why can't his devotees understand R&J?

I'm amazed that anybody still snaps at Mr. Small's bait. He has been
making posts like this, THIS being where he uses his experience as a
standard to which the world should conform, for a long time. He doesn't
seem to realize how Smallcentric that standard is. This has been
pointed out in the past, but here we are snapping at him again. Sigh.

Let's be hipper than that. As my old Greek teacher once told me, I was
a terrible Greek student, "If you have 100% of Greek, you will use 100%.
If you have 10%, you can use that. The point is to have something you
can use." Amen, Jack!

It applies to Shakespeare as well.

All the best,
Mike Jensen
