Subject: Shakespeare in Moulin Rouge
Is is perhaps not surprising that there is a brief refernce to
Shakespeare in Baz Luhrmann's new film, Moulin Rouge. the writer (Ewan
McGregor) is called "Shakespeare" with some sarcasm by a cruel
prostitute who taunts him at several points. The "L'Amour" Coke sign
from Luhrmann's first two movies reappears as well.
Moulin Rouge has not garnered great reviews, but I thought it was rally
fantastic. Wonderful numbers, sets, and costumes.
