Subject: Polonius Gets the Point
Life, or in this case death, should have some stability. Miss Scarlet,
for example, should always be bashed with the candelabrum in the
library. There has been a disturbing upsurge in recent productions of
Hamlet where Polonius is shot. Am I now in the minority in deriving
satisfaction from seeing the old buffer stabbed? Discharges into the
arras are always such an anticlimax.
