Subject: Kittredge Inquiry
A friend asks,
Could I get you to post/forward a quick question to the Shakespeare list
serve? I'm trying to track down a quote by George Lyman Kittredge:
something to the effect that Shakespeare's personal moral code had only
three commandments, and one of them was "Do not Slander." I've tried
most of his edited works, his lectures, etc., but it's like looking for
the proverbial needle in the haystack.
I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
