"Patrick Stewart, a Yorkshireman, returns to his roots on 22nd June when
he plays in Shylock: Shakespeare's Alien at the West Yorkshire
Playhouse, Leeds." (from Peter Lathan's *About British Theatre
Newsletter* No. 170, 10 June 2001)
The West Yorkshire Playhouse site says this:
"SHYLOCK: SHAKESPEARE'S ALIEN is a great insight in to both the workings
of one of the most distinguished actors of the British stage and one of
Shakespeare's most fascinating characters. After each performance there
will also be the unique opportunity to enjoy an open after-show
discussion with Patrick.
"'Shylock is one of the most commonly reviled characters in Shakespeare.
Through perfomance and analysis I try to reveal him as a more
understandable and even sympathetic character than he is normally
thought to be'".
It runs from 22 June through 7 July. Tickets start at 9L. The
theatre's website is at:

Cheers,
Karen
