Subject: The Court Historian
The September 2001 issue (Vol. 6, no. 2) of The Court Historian (ISSN
1462-9712) finally appeared at the end of January. The article of
interest to this list will be "Shakespeare and the Court" by Dominic
Baker-Smith (pages 93-122). The author draws attention to scenes at
Court in 29 of the plays. As a King's Man, Shakespeare ranked as a
Groom of the Chamber at the Court of James I.
In an attempt to address publishing delays, the Society for Court
Studies intends to publish only two issues for the 2002 volume (in
addition to the remaining issue of 2001).
