One suggestion:
__Japanese Studies in Shakespeare and his Contemporaries__ edited by
Yoshiko Kawachi. There is, as you would expect, some discussion of
productions and films (Kurosawa especially).

There are several books out now including Shakespeare on the Japanese
Stage and several articles in the Proceedings of International
Shakespeare Congress in Tokyo (1991?)
Best,
Alex

Ch. 7 of John Collick, Shakespeare, Cinema and Society (Manchester UP,
1989). There is, of course, also a great deal on Kumonosujo and Ran,
Kurosawa's Shakespeare films.
