WORTHY OF ALL CAPS: They are now offering individual subscriptions at
VERY REASONABLE RATES:

Individual Access $60 a year
Individual Access (SAA member) $50 a year
Individual Access (Shakespeare Quarterly Subscriber) $30 a year
Institutional Access $225

I'd be interested to hear whether this works as a sustainable business
model.

As an indy who has only limited status/access via my local graduate
library (U of Wash), I'd like to see others offer similar access plans.

EEBO is only available to participating institutions (U of Wash is one,
but I have to go to the library to use it), and LION offers no
individual subscription rates (I haven't even managed to get a quote
from them of the institutional rates; they keep passing me off to some
not-terribly-useful [for me] student site they've built).

Thanks,
Steve

Nope. There is an essay with the same title by Honan (which came out
before Bevington's). Two SHAKSPEReans e-mailed me the information I
needed. Thank you!

Best wishes,
Takashi
