We took the blurbs from our supplier's list, which was quite abominable
indeed. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to find and fix all the
errors, so our apologies to all. The first person to point out an
inconsistency or error that has not yet been brought to our attention
will receive a $2.00 discount on the BBC Shakespeare video or DVD of
his/her choice.

Would we enjoy a thread on what the list thinks about various specific
versions in the BBC series? I haven't seen them all but I'll offer to
start.

Despite the controversy about casting Antony Hopkins as Othello, ie as
an 'Arab' Moor, this was a very fine version - complete as the BBC
versions are, beautifully designed, acted for television not the
theatre and therefore full of small nuances, with the verse given full
value and wrenching in the last scenes. Othello is my least favourite of
the mature tragedies but this is a superb production.

I'm also recommending to our library that we purchase T and C ( for
rarity mostly), Lear, Hamlet, teh Henriad, AYLI and one of the best of
the bunch I think - Measure for Measure.
